The Guidance to the prevention, evaluation and treatment of oil pollution in the groundwater

The Guidance to the prevention, evaluation and treatment of oil pollution in the groundwater

The purpose of this project is to determine the framework, structure, components and assessment methods and oil pollution treatment from groundwater. This guidance includes 15 chapters that the first chapter is consisted an introduction of oil activities and their pollution effects, the second chapter presents the laws and regulations related to water and groundwater pollution in Iran and other countries. The hydrogeological principles and equations on the groundwater flow is presented in the third chapter. Chapters fourth and five contain hydrocarbon chemistry, the laws and ways to transfer pollutants and migration of LNAPLs in saturated and unsaturated areas. In chapters six and seven, oil pollution prevention methods and groundwater pollution assessment methods are presented, respectively. In the eighth and ninth chapters, different methods of LNAPLs detecting and LNAPLs recovery technologies are described. From the tenth to the twelfth chapter, different methods of oil pollutants remediation from groundwater and remediation strategies for dissolved contaminated plumes are described. The economic aspects of the groundwater remediation is presented in chapter thirteen. The conditions for closing the site to complete the remediation, and, the different remediation methods for the various hydrocarbons performed in all over the world are described in presented in Chapters Fourteen and Fifteen, respectively.
